Finnish education system has become one of the leading systems in the world ever since the public education was set up in the middle of the 19th century. The education in Finland is based on the following principles: equality, access, learning rather than testing, teachers’ competencies as well as on life-long learning. The vision is that everyone can grow to his/her own potential. Thus, e.g. the 21st century skills have been high-lighted in all levels of education. Today digitalization is taken as one of the priorities in the renewal of education and learning. Thus, the educational technology sector and start-ups have been set up by innovative teachers, students and entrepreneurs. The innovations are created together with the companies and schools.
One of the highlights of the Finnish presence was the Workshop “Finnish Educational Innovations for Life-long learning”. The key note speaker was the permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland, Mrs. Anita Lehikoinen. Next to this speech, leading Finnish companies presented their most innovative solutions in early childhood and basic education, higher education with dual structure and e-learning. Visitors were able to test and evaluate presented products and solutions in the Finnish Pavilion.
